Language of privacy
There are several words in Czech that are equivalents of the English word ‘privacy’.
- Soukromi: probably the closest meaning, used in most legislation
- Duvernost: intimacy, familiarity (comes from the word ‘duvera’ which means ‘trust’
- Duverne: in private, in trust
- Zachovani tajemstvi: literally means ‘keeping secret’
- Potaji: In secret, secretly
- Utajeni dat: data privacy, data confidentiality, data security
- Samota: seclusion, ‘being alone’
